Black Templars

The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon (Pauperes commilitones Christi Templique Solomonici), commonly known as the Knights Templar, the Order of the Temple or simply as Templar, were among the most famous of the Western Christian Military Orders. The organisation existed for approximately two centuries in the period known as the Middle Ages.

Officially endorsed by the Catholic Church around 1129, the Order became a favoured charity throughout Christendom, and grew rapidly in membership and power. Templar Knights, in their distinctive white mantles with a red cross, were among the most skilled fighting units of the Crusades. Non-combatant members of the Order managed a large economic infrastructure throughout Christendom, innovating financial techniques that were an early form of Banking and building many castles across Europe and the area known as the Holy Land.

The Black Templars Officially endorsed by the Catholic Church in 1125 as a secret organisation to police all the Orders, as you can see there would have been a structure in place even before the Knights Templars were granted their white cloak by Pope Honorius 11 and before Pope Eugenius 111 accorded the Templars the eight pointed red cross. Recruited from all the Orders, known for their courage and fighting skills theses knights would return to their Order but be the eyes and ears for the Black Templars. Only other Black Templars would recognise them as Brothers through secret recognitions, only known to Black Templars. The rules set by the organisation specified that there must never be more than 300 members in the Order.

The World is growing at an astonishing rate. With the advent of the World Wide Web it has been possible to make plans for more immediate action than ever before.

In the past the Council of 13 would meet to plan long range strategies to deal with enemies or those who would thwart our aims. The 300 were always found to be adequate for dealing with these issues once agreed. However, now things move at such speed and there are often needs to be dealt with straight away it may be possible to allow some decisions to be made by one or more of the Seneschals without resorting to a full meeting. This being said, because the 300 are spread throughout the world it is not always easy to co-ordinate such action.
